Hello, thanks in advance for reading this.
I have had this issue for a long time on this laptop and it has happened to version 6.0 ~ 7.0-RC2 on driver 10.14.11 and 10.14.19 - both from ports. The only way I can get logs after startx is to hit Ctl+Alt+Del to successfully shutdown the computer. I'll attach two of them, the first was done shortly after startx and the other about 45 seconds after. The xorg.conf is the one created by the wizard. The laptop is an MS-1719, also known as GX-700, and has a Geforce 8600M GT currently running 7.0-RC2. Only thing I can think to add is on some resets after starting startx I can see in the console NVIDIA throwing up MTRR errors at 0xc0000000. I can post the exact error message later if needed. Thanks |

Confirmed to be a problem with running 4gb of ram, running with 2gb it works fine. Any other fix that can be applied where I don't lose 1gb of working ram? I know the linux drivers have addressed this, I am happily running gentoo as we speak.
I will delete this post if http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=108727 confirms his is a ram issue and consolidate the thread. |

Any idea on when this will be fixed? I would expect better support from Nvidia, I must say I am very disappointed.

My 8700M didn't work until I used the 169.12 version (in ports currently).

Dude, you're going to college. The total cost (of public college even) will dwarf the expense you have of getting a new computer. Get the best fricken system you can.
