This BFG GTX 280 OCX that I have overclocks pretty good .I have ran it though the benchmarks I have and it topped out at 735/1620/2640 with the fan at a 100%.but it is already overclocked pretty high at it's default clocks 665/1458/2400,so i keep it at it's default and the fan at 60%.

In 3DMark 06 I got 16,915 in vista 64 and when I ran 3DMark Vantage in performance I could'nt do 1622 on the shader ,so the highest I got it to run was 738/1566/2660 and got
P-14,597 and on High I got H-8867.I should get my other BFG GTX 280 OC by Thursday and my scores should be a little higher.I dought my BFG GTX 280 OC will overclock as high as my BFG GTX 280 OCX,It has the same memory on it so I should be able to get 2600 ,at least 2500 and hopely 1458 on the shaders .I can play all my games now at 1920x1200 and in a lot of them be able to use anisotropic filtering at 16x and be able to use antialiasing transparency and be able to crank up my Antialiasing to 8x or 16x in a lot of my games.

So what do you guys use to test your overclocks and what is an acceptable maximum load temp for a GTX260?
I want to push this thing a bit farther but I don't want to do it half-assed and end up with one unstable game.

Furmark is one way to test it, ATItool tool. Vantage is another way, just loop it.
But usually furmark crashes at stock speeds so i'm not sure if that's a software issue or what. But I usually load up FarCry2 or Crysis since both games seem to be sensitive to overclocks and load up an old save and just start chaos. I just re-flashed mine with the up'd voltage (1.18) and kept the clocks at 700/1400/2100. Whats the best way to test shader clocks? I've had it to 760/1550/2200, but temps are on the high side (load @ 77c) and furmark crashed instantly and far cry 2 crashed about an hour in while playing. |

I wish my shader would go higher but I get artifacts at 1435, which limits my core at 725. Since I back the shader down to 1420, my core has to come down to 710. This gives me a final overclock of 710/1420/2500 on my Superclocked GTX 260 core 216. I just keep the fan at the default 40% and have never gone over 76 underload, and I idle at 42. If I run the fan at 100% I peak in the low 60's with my overclock and idle in the high 30's.
