Ok, did it:
something else strange: ERROR: The kernel header file '/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-4/include/linux/modversions.h' does not exist. The most likely reason for this is that the kernel header files in '/usr/src/linux-2.4.21-4/include' have not been configured. I looked into modversions.h on another machine with original installation and the whole contents turned out to be: #include <linux/modsetver.h> so I copied it on the machine in question and voila: Installation of the NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for Linux-x86 (version: 1.0-4496) is now complete. thank you both a lot !!! Tomorrow I will test it (done this on remote to the machine).Cheers |

Strange, modversions.h should have been generated by the procedure above.

I've testet the driver now:
everything is working fine (confusions of console mode after using X are gone now, in contrast when using Driver "nv" )! For anyone interested in the XF86config for a Dell Inspiron i8500 (GeForce4 4200 Go) see the attached file. |
