Here is what the update fixes.

Quote:
# Fixed several issues with matchmaking and password protected servers
# Tuned matchmaking to provide better search results
# Fixed bug where servers could stay reserved by matchmaking forever
# Performance optimizations and fixes to networking layer
# Fixed issue where game could cause Steam executable to use too much CPU
# Fixed music resetting when changing video settings
# Fixed some issues with not being able to chat and/or connect to other users

In addition to those, we've also added some early features to help enable "private" servers. There are two ways to enable this:

Set a sv_search_key to a unique string on the server
Do the same on each client that will want to connect
Start a map on the server
Searches for games should be restricted to only finding servers with that search key

Or...

Set sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0
Set sv_password to a non-empty string
Start a map on the server
Tell the client the IP address of the server
Client uses console to "connect " just like the good old days
Should result in password prompt during connect to server

These features are still a work in progress.

Is the demo only for people who pre-ordered? I click on 'download' and it just reloads the L4D page.

How about a friendly fire turned OFF option?

Yes, it's for the pre-orders only. Next Thursday (11th) is when everyone will get to try the demo out.

I'm going to play during lunch break again today . . . if it's not too busy. Stupid Symantec had to ruin my morning by crashing email access. Gay Symantec.

It's fun, the MP lobby is a little clunky, but it is cool to click it and get in a game in just a few minutes.

I really miss an iron site too.

Yeah, I don't know why people want iron sight so bad. You are trying to get from point A to point B as fast as possible, so of course you are gonna run and shoot from the hip. I dunno, it's not a needed feature for me.

Anyone have an extra code? I don't want to preorder off of steam, I prefer a hard copy.

Its good for those distant zombies... you know running ahead isn't the best.

BTW Anyone else notice that the game sends hordes if you stay idle too long?

Was complete chaos, three friends and I kept trying to get in our dedi. and I finally just made a lan. Expert is challenging as well, but after playing through three times I was ready to take a break. It is that intense.
