I have downloaded the latest NVIDIA driver and got it configured OK. I now need to edit XFree86 config. I have located it and and fired up gedit , however when I try to change the line "nv" to "nvidia" nothing happens. At the top of the box it says the file is read only. What do I do ?
Cheers. |

You need to edit the file as a user with the necessary priviledges, i.e. as root.
