Regarding #2, there is a wide icon view mode but it isn't available by default. At the top where you choose the view mode (list, wallpaper, etc,) if you go to the right a bunch, there is an option (can't remember the name...not at home right now) where you can choose which view modes are available. You need to check widecase (i think that's what it's called...)

Okay update on the 5.1 multichannel analog output.

You can enable multichannel audio by creating an advancedsettings.xml file and placing it in %appdata%/XBMC/userdata.

The file needs to contain

<advancedsettings>
    <audio>
        <analogmultichannel>true</analogmultichannel>        
    </audio>
</advancedsettings>

But the problem is that the channel mapping is all wrong. My center channel is coming out of rear left, rear right has nothing, fronts and center are outputting stuff but not the right channels. Now I need to figure out how to remap the channels......

Multi is already on for me. But i cannot turn of output to all channels for music. After making those changes can you now enable that option?

Also does XBMC for a for of DDL thing if I select digital?

Are your channels all screwed up like mine? I'm not sure if you can have different audio modes for the different sections.

The reason I want analog to work is because I get my auzentech xplosion cinema to do DTS Interactive on it, which automatically converts stereo sources (ie music) to 5.1.

I don't think XBMC will do that on it's own.

My channels seem fine. I watched Family Guy through it yesterday and the surround seemed pretty bag on.

I plan to wipe my HTPC, put XP on then set XBMC to autostart. Should work nicely.

What build do you have? Atlantis 8.10? or some other one?

Ha, I can't even get the official release to install properly on my Vista HTPC. I'm still rocking Beta 2.

I'm using one of the older post Atlantis builds, but before the switch no native SMB.

WiSo is trying to help out why native SMB in latest builds won't work with certain vista scenarios.

I can install the latest build of XBMC but it says that it can't find a .dll . I don't have the error message right off hand but I've tried a few things. Deleted the install, deleting the registry keys but it still won't work on my HTPC. I just haven't had time to research the problem.

i believe the latest build are build with Visual Studio 2008 by Jester, maybe you need Visual C++ 2008 redist.
