Default changing LCD aspect ratios

I am using an nVidia GeForce 8500. I want to display a 4:3 image on a 16:10 screen at a resolution of 1600:1200. When I plug in the widescreen monitor, I see a stretched out 1600:1200 image. Is there a way to display the 1600:1200 not stretched out with black bars on the left and right side of the monitor?

Default Re: changing LCD aspect ratios

I ran into this AFTER I upgraded my Nvidia driver. I suggest you downgrade to version 173.14.12 which is the latest version that worked for me. 177.80, 177.82, and even 180.06 (beta) have this problem of stretching 4:3 video to fit 16:9 (i.e. no black bars on the sides).

I discovered this problem trying to watch 4:3 TV shows with MythTV on my widescreen monitor. I hope this bug gets fixed in the next release as I find stretched video to be unwatchable.
