here's an idea.

boot a Linux Live Disc (ie Ubuntu) and delete the folder from in there.

Too late! KillDisk is running right now. A single pass of writing random junk to the drive is going to take 4 hours.

Oh well, at least I'll know everything is gone. The backups didn't take long at all and will be easy enough to restore later.

Did you try taking ownership as per my suggestion? I'm just curious if it didn't work.....

I appreciate the suggestions, but the drive has been nuked and the backups restored. It's much cleaner now.

You didn't mention anything about checking the box for replacing rights on all subcontainers and objects. If you don't check that box all it does it change the rights on that folder.

I would take ownership then go back and tell it to replace inheritance on everything for your user as well. (Using the permissions tab) If that doesn't do the trick then you would almost be forced to nuke it.

@Sat: Don't worry, I see that you already solved your problem. I'm just adding some info in case this comes up again or someone Googles it.

i know it is a bit to late, but i know what the issue was

securom creates usually 2, sometimes more files that are very hard to delete.

i hate those stupid registry keys it deletes with the illegal characters.

impossible to clean when it gets ****ed up. took me a few days last time
