You sure it's a memory bandwidth issue? According to the Tech Report, this card has more bandwidth than a 4870x2: 256.0 vs. 230.4 GB/s.

Hmm

I am just struggling to see why a 280 Gtx Owner should get one, especially when for Titles that don't support SLi mode, One will get performance Loss over a single 280Gtx even in a quad Gtx295 setup.

A 280gtx owner will be better off getting another 280 and go SLi?

As 2x280Gtx@170GB/s each with 1 GB RAM= SLi 280Gtx 340GB/s 2GB RAM

Which technically is way Faster that Gtx 295, Also will be cheaper option to go SLi.

And there will be no performance loss for non supported SLi Titles.

Whats your conclusion?

Dual GPU cards are for benchmark nuts (quad SLI) and people with only one GPU slot. If you can do 2 card' in SLI it's always better than a single SLI card IMO.

Am more and more getting Peed off with Nivida.
as a new card they're supposed to bring out either

1) 2 x 285Gtx in a sandwich Card or 2 x 280Gtx in a sandwich Card

or at least give that 295 some decent GDDR5 RAM.

tbh it should be called gtx260+

Nvidia has never had a dual GPU that uses the same clocks/bandwith as its current high end. "Never" there are power/heat and thermal threshold that differ greatly from single GPUS.

Some games have automatic saves which will give you dips like seen in graphs above, in any case something like that on a graph should be explained one way or another. What concerns me is the 8xAA tests, where on a few games the GTX 295 just chokes. Hopefully it is just a driver problem, otherwise why even bother going quad SLI with two cards for high resolution gaming and 8xAA. I see a difference in 4x to 8x aa but for me it just isn't some kind of god rays of improvement in IQ.

Something more important is smooth consistent game play. Not something that gets an average of 100FPs but has low spikes of less then 20 FPS perdiocally. Hell, a consistent 30 FPS card to me would be better then that. I am just not to keen on dual GPU's, at least yet. Maybe next generation when memory and rendering is shared between the two or more GPU's.

If it not to high priced when it come out ,I may do a step-up with my BFG 280 and just use one slot and less power. It does'nt seem to overclock any better then the 65nm part ,but I did'nt think it would ant way ,but at least it uses less power.I still don' see why they did'nt put faster memory on it ,at least the .08ns DDR3 instead of the 1.0ns memory,or even use GDDR5 since it uses less power and has more bandwidth.I was looking for the the shaders to be at 1500 at default since both of my GTX 280's will do 1500.If it is priced at $499 then it will be a decent deal,if it is more then I will stay with my two BFG GTX 280 OCX's.

In your opinion, is it worth upgrading from 280 gtx?

hehe

it depends on your preferences, but hey there's basically nothing a GTX280 can't do. If you had a HD4850/9800GTX then my answer would have been... hell yeah!!

I'm still using my 2-year-old 8800 GTX. Will definitely upgrade to either 295 quad-SLI or 285 SLI. The only question that remains is whether or not quad-SLI 295 setup suffers from low min. fps/inconsistency/microstuttering.
