Default DVR to PC wireless

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a DVR to record TV shows, but I would also like to put them on my PC.

My question is if this is possible/legal/how do I do it/which brand?

I've got no DVR right now, but do have a wireless router and Vista Ultimate x64 machine.

Any advice will be appreciated,

thanks in advance

It's not possible due to obvious legal reasons

Get a DVD burner that hooks to your tv and records shows to dvd. After it burns them then put them on the pc.

Or use the PC as a DVR. Since you have Vista Ultimate, the only other hardware you might need is a TV Tuner card IIRC. That'd probably be the easier route.

Yea we 've got a Pinnacle HD TV USB stick that tunes in digital and analog tv stations pretty well with the supplied antenna for our Vista laptop. It says it can also do cable but we have sattelite and it doesn't tune that in.

Heh? No. Recording TV shows has already been ruled as fair use in the betamax case. And there are many DVR's that do allow for this, and many of the ones that don't can be hacked to allow for this (I used to do this kind of thing often.)

so it isn't possible to do this? Like for example I run out of space on my DVR and want to transfer the shows to my PC so I can record more.

You can do that by buying an external Hard drive, thats legal.
And by the way, I have done my share of illegal things

How do i do this on mine, if you don't know thats alright, I have a couple of movies that I wish to put into DVD. Also TV SHOWS.
Mine is the ViP722 DVR. Supposedly the best, thats what Dish network says. Anyways, it has an ethernet port and a USB port, if you know please explain a bit.

Along with that, how do you do it through your wireless network?

You would need to instal software or something to the DVR.
What youy could do, as it was already set is get a DVD burner and watch a movie and record it while watching. And if you want it to be on the PC then RIP it to it.
Just a Suggestion

For any dish PVR you'd be looking for a program called dishrip.
