I had a 50" 1080p Samsung and I think this plasma is far better then it. The picture quality is amazing in comparison...

Really? Would you mind expanding upon that? Are the colors more vibrant? How is the picture quality better? Darker blacks than LCD and DLP?

Yeah the colors are very vibrant, far more then our DLP downstairs. The blacks are perfect from what I can tell. I am playing a PS2 game and it has ablack borders and it looks perfect... no greying at all.

I only have SD TV in my room but Blu-Ray movies and PS3 games look great, The only complaint I can find right now is on the PS2 game I am playing I am getting some motion blur but I think its the game and my PS3 causing it since no other PS2 title does it.

What about power consumption? Comparable to LCD and DLP? Gibs been mentioning calibration and what not... what in the world is he referring to?

Calibrating means you run through a series of test patterns to set the color and contrast properly. I used the Aliens DVD to do mine.

Power consumption is probably the worse of the 3 technologies as is the heat it gives off. My set can get pretty warm when on for awhile.

Basically it's setting the color options and such for your TV to get the best possible picture. Check out tweaktv.com, their forum lists what they consider the best settings for a ton of TVs. Unfortunately I bought a cheap POS that's pretty much made with a defective design and they don't list mine

A professional calibration will adjust greyscale as well just not what is in the user menu.

Odd. The settings suggested for my TV on tweaktv.com are completely different than what I got with DVE. I haven't tried them, but by the numbers they looked to be a lot more "torch mode" than I would like. I might fire them in just to see, but I can bet I will end up going back to my own calibrated settings.

They may not be right for you. If a single set of settings worked for every single tv of a particular model the manufacturer would just set them to that before they leave the factory. When people post settings like that it's more as a suggestion, but if they look wrong they probably are.
