I only had Firefox v3.0.5 running. When I came back after about 45 minutes, Firefox, Xorg and Enlightenment had been killed due to lack of memory. Even after Firefox and Enlightenment had been killed the swapper kept complaining until Xorg was killed. I had been running this driver for about two days when this happened.
An xscreensaver program (BlockTube) was running, but it probably was dormant at the time. This does not occur with driver v177.82 and earlier. If it makes it easier, Firefox had these five tabs running with the last one the visible tab:
Until I can do more testing, I think it is a leak in Firefox that caused the problem (at least initially). Open up all those tabs, keep the mouse away from the Firefox window by running top in an xterm on top of it, watch the memory grow. I just do not understand why the swapper took out other applications after Firefox was killed. There was at least a minute between the killing of Firefox and Xorg.
