part of the screen seems to be frozen
I've a real strange problem with my Linux system. Sometimes starting a KDE program causes some kind of frozen screen. Into the top left corner (left screen, 26") a smaller or bigger area is "frozen", up to appr. 1/4 part of the entire screen. (see screendumps)
Frozen means: content of this area is not refreshed. The appearing content (when launching the app) keeps on screen, for example when moving the application window. The content of the application window itself is not accessable inside the frozen area.
And the frozen area is always on top, other windows will be invisible and unaccessable. (see screendump #2: top of the Opera window is hidden, Opera was launched after the problem occurs)
This happens randomly from time to time but seldom with different apps. Closing the app will remove the frozen area and after a Desktop screen refresh everything seems to be fine.
But launching a specific app (Tellico) will create this frozen area each time. I don't know how or why, but anytime I start Tellico the top left area does freeze. Closing Tellico again removes the problem.
This problem happens since a few months more and more. It already happened with my old monitor, when I was using 2x 19" - so it shouldn't be related to the 26" screen.
I installed each new driver release, but the problem is still alive. I'm very interested in solving this problem.
Nvidia GF 8800 GTS (320 MB) currently using nv 177.80 x86_64
Intel Q6600 with 8 GB RAM
Kubuntu 8.04 amd64
primary screen (left) Samsung 26" using 1920x1200
secondary screen (right) 19" using 1280x1024
How can I solve this problem?
