Default will VDPAU on GF8300 give me 1080p?

Looking forward to make cheap and low power consuming HDTV system running Linux. I found several proper MBs with GF8300 or 8200, and now I see VDPAU will force hardware decoding as well. I can now purchase this with low powered CPU and get 720p decoding. Even Sempron has enough processor power to decode this. But I wanna be sure - when I'll install VDPAU software on my system - will GF8300 or 8200 decode 1080p/24fps h.264 videos with hardware acceleration (don't talk about audio for while)? what will I need to do to get signal on HDMI output of MB?

and now about audio - if I'll get it from analog outputs (using analog 5.1 system) - won't time lag between audio and video appear? I talk about VDPAU usage of course

The GeForce 8200/8300 can decode 1080p in hardware. HDMI audio is exposed through ALSA, as far as I know.

VDPAU won't force hardware decoding though, you need the player to utilize this new API.

what about time lag? won't video delay on hardware decoding lag behind analog audio? I don't need HDMI audio cause I've got good enough analog system

I don't have any problems with A/V sync here. If there's a noticeable delay, the current MPlayer patches probably compensate for it.
