I have a legacy C51G motherboard integrated card with Ubuntu 8.10 linux, however, it didn't work properly when I tried to activate "Nvidia accerlated graphics driver(version 177)" driver. please see the "Xorg.0.log" file in the attachment. Have you tried using envyng-qt to load your drivers under 8.10... I find it more reliable than the restricted driver loader.

the enyyng-qt showed that the 173.14.12-1-0ubuntu4 driver should be installed(the recommended flag was checked), but after reboot as prompting, the X windows still can not be started with the error same as in the Xorg.0.log (attached in the first post) I also tried the other two compatible drivers: 96.43.09-0ubuntu1 and 177.82-0ubuntu0.1, but both not successful. anyway, the card is a legacy one and I can enter into the default Ubuntu 1024*768 resolution, for most app, it's good enough. and thanks for all your time and help! |
