Default Re: EVGA GTX 295 Quad SLI!

Well,i have 2 HD4870 X2's in Quad crossfire, and i've owned them since august last year, and i must say those are some mighty nice numbers there indeed.

But i did notice something odd though....In both the firingsquad review and the HardOCP one,as well as a german site called computerbase.de,once you start really cranking the settings up,and i mean 2560*1600 with 8X AA,the performance crown in those situations is a pretty close fight, with the Quad GTX295 wining some and the Quad crossfire winning others.

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/...5_performance/

Check out the Quad versus Quad numbers....Insane numbers in either case no matter who wins.

There were graphs showing that the 8800GTX was faster than a 9800GTX at even 1920 x 1200 because of the vram limitations. It would be interesting to see a review done now with 9800GX2 quad SLI and the I7 at high frequencies. Use a lower resolution like 1280 x 1024 and see what kind of scaling the cards actually have. They probably won't stutter because of the lower memory requirements, but won't be bottlenecked as much by the cpu.
Something I have thought about doing as I still have 9800GX2 cards. But the question that bugs me is does anyone care anymore?

I care, data is always good. Once data is collected, it can be used for many purposes. Not just thrown away. Kind of like history, it tells us where we have been, were we are going.

Please do Chris.

Thank you,
Monnie
