Hmm well in that case keep in mind it must be minimum 256mb of ram , 9 and up series Geforce, but considering hardly any games around save those few bucks for later
![]() But if you still want id personaly go with this slim profile 9600gt or something similar that doesn't take two slots ![]()

Ok question from me. I have the 295, and a spare 8800 GTX. Could I use the 8800 GTX card as a physX card? Also I only have a x38 crossfire motherboard?

I think it has to be a nvidia chipset board to use physix, but I don't see why any 8 series card wouldn't work well.
I have the gear but don't know of any game to try it on. |

As long as you have an extra slot to put a card in it should work.

I read that with XP you can just plug it in and forget about it, but with Vista you'll need to plug in a monitor or something to utilize it just as PhysX. And that they are working on this issue.

As an experiment I used an 8600GTS with a GTX280 prior to swapping it out for the GTX295.
The results where less than stellar frankly, as a quick test I used 3DVantage GTX280 & 8600GTS on Vista SP1 64 BIT. The install was a little bit of a pain in the A@@ 180.48 would not recognize the 8600GTS the driver INF did not have the 8600GTS as a choice for Physx so I used 181. By the way I had BSOD twice needing multiple reboots, and several trips into safe mode before it seated properly. Once everything was right I tested Vantage, and my score was higher using the GTX280 on its own then with the additional 8 series card. I now own an GTX295, and did a fresh 64bit Vista install I figure its not worth the trouble of trying this again unless 1) I get a better card for Physx 9600GT or better or 2) it mature or 3) we get better Apps to utilize this tech, because the additional heat, power requirements, and overall experience did not merit its use IMHO.

9500gt will work, but you could give that card to your wife and keep your 8800gts

I tried it with my 650 SLI motherboard when I got my 4850 and had the 8800 320mb. Vista did not like 2 different vendors drivers installed at the same time. I wished there was a way to load a dedicated physics card type of driver for the 8800. Is there anything like this now with the 181.20?
