Question Should buying a 6200 series card help with new X server issues?

Hi,

I have GeForce 4 MX 400 card installed on AGP 4x slot. I upgraded to Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04) so none of the drivers work for me now. I heard that such a configuration is planned to be supported but not any soon.
I'm thinking of buying a 6200 series card (it will cost about $60 i guess), but i would like to be totally sure that it will work with the latest drivers on my system.

I was satisfied with the performance of the 96.43.09 driver and my card (i didn't play games much), i just need some 2D and 3D acceleration support.

Should a AGP 6200 card work on my system if I install a 180.* driver?

Thanks,
-Mike

I've been able to run my old 6200 on the 177.xx series drivers but had a few issues with 180.11. I haven't tested out 180.22 on this card.

Honestly any upgrade is probably worth it if you're currently using vesa or nv drivers or whatnot.

there's also a twelve pages long thread (this) describing a very critical bug, found on the first beta, and yet unresolved (even if they call it "stable").
So, nvidia is currently NOT suggested, and it will be our policy till the bug will be fixed.
Buy something else instead, or wait till we'll have a better support.
