You really can't - the boominess is the result of inferior design, maybe a too steep crossover filter or the shape of the cabinet.

Some bass frequencies resonate making bass boomy and loud - but only some frequencies. Other bass frequencies remain barely audible.

Back to the initial post- I have GigaWorks T20s and they sound very good - and they are not boomy. This is the precise reason why I got them.
Sure Genelecs would be a better set
Or putting the sub in the corner of the room. :: Which was a trick I used back in the day to try and get more boom. :: I had a crappy little Yamaha sub. ::

Logitech Z-2300 <--- happy with them so far, major improvement, I came from a Creative DTT3500 5.1 speakerset which my uncle gave me a few years ago.

I have an old set of Creative speakers, a 2.1 set 60 watts.

They sound pretty good, but there's almost no highs and the mids and lowend sound about the same.

I'm very happy with Razer's speakers.

I have the Creative T20 and for the price that i paid, i'm really impressed with its performance. Despite its small foot-print, the sound can get really loud without breaking and i really like the ability to control the level of bass and tremble. The line-out in front is also really useful if you do use ur headphones occasionally with ur com. However, the blue light in the front of the speakers is really bright and irritating. If you can;t stand it ... you can buy the new T20 series 2 which is basically the T20 with a new look. Find out more here: http://sg.creative.com/products/prod...=18020&listby=

Got the T20's in the mail today. They're really nice. I really like the look. My music sounds a lot better as well. Theyre really enjoyable to listen to. The sound stage is a lot better than any 2.1 set up I've used and the music just sounds more balanced and solid. The bass isn't lacking enough to bother me, honestly its a little more than I was expecting. They also look incredibly nice. So far I'm really happy with my purchase.

I have pair of M-Audio AV-40's and they are amazing. These are studio monitors, so they don't color the sound like other speakers do, so if you're into boomy bass these will not be for you. They are meant to be incredibly clear and crisp (and they are!) so if you have a crappy source, ie low bit MP3's, youtube videos etc you'll hear the compression artifacts loud and clear (which can be, admittedly, distracting and expensive since they'll make you want to buy good cd's etc to hear the difference).

Where these really shine IMO are with DVD's, retail cd's and video games, the sound is just amazing. If you have a guitar center near you they'll have these set up, bring a cd and give them a listen. They are not cheap for a 2.0 set, I paid 140.00 with a sale going on, but I don't regret the purchase.
