Yes they optimized Windows 7, no surprise is it really, they needed to, it's their only way into the netbook/eePC business, they can't sell a 8 year old OS forever.

Windows 7 is better from what I've played around with it.

It SHOULD just be 64 bit, IMO.

+1

I'm going to install W7 x64 on my workstation today, Vista has gotten way too slow for me.

Just 64bit, you must be joking, Microsoft dont do Windows for desktops you know, netbooks/eepc with 512mb of ram, what about 32bit only CPU's?, people like to use older hardware and dont need to upgrade.

Indeed, its been like 4/5 years since 64bit compatible cpus have been out, how long does it take to get a new tech in?
As soon as 64bit becomes mandatory, then games/programs can be written in 64bit from the ground up, which will open up new possibilities in performance and quality.

You do realize that not eveyone has 4Gb of ram(or even needs it), 64bit OS's gives you a performance loss on low memory. In fact Windows 7 minimum requirements of the CPU's wouldn't be 64bit anyway.
