Has anyone done this kind of an upgrade? And if so will it keep my settings and installed apps installed?
I basically can't use windows update anymore. It keeps giving me a 80070246 error for most major upgrades. After a LOT of searching and attempts to fix it I can't seem to do it so the only thing left is to either try an upgrade to the same OS again or reinstall from scratch which is the last thing I want to do cause of all stuff I'd have to reinstall.

In case you haven't tried this yet; right click on the HD and in Properties select the Tools tab. There should be an option called Error Checking. Select that, tick both boxes and hit Start. It should ask you to restart your PC and will do the check when rebooting. Good luck . |

The drive has no errors. Did that a long time ago.
Repair, for some reason I thought that option was removed in favor of system restore with vista, I'll have to boot the disc and take a look. I guess I better slipstream SP1 to save some time.
