Default Re: No Audo using SPDIF with GTX 260

A few things.

On the gtx 260 I think I red some were only one of the two DVI outputs have audio. So make sure you connect on DVI1.

Do you use the supplied dvi>hdmi adaptor?
Don't think just any adaptor will work.

And is your tv able to decode the audio signal format your sending?

I solved the problem, upgrading to Vista allowed me to choose the codec to pass through the SPDIF. All works now, thanks for the help!

Now to fix XBMC. ><

Under the part where you select your desired output device click on properties for SPDIF and on the second tab you can chose what codecs to pass and the bitrate.

Sorry I can't be anymore specific, Im at work currently.

I am also trying to get this to work, and have had no success. I am using a GTX260 with Vista64 and a DVI-D Dual Link to HDMI adapter. For sound, I'm using an Audigy2 and my motherboard is also equiped with onboard HD Audio. I have tried hooking the 2pin SPDIF cable to both my mainboard and my GTX260 with no success. I have tried manipulating the output devices, changing bitrates, triple checking to make sure the cable is on right, etc.

I am at a complete loss on how to get this thing working, the sound ALWAYS comes from my PC speakers. Except for when I use the onboard HD Audio, I get no sound at all that way. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. What do you guys think?

the solousion is simple dvi does carry video and sound but only special dvi cables have the ability to do so. so standard ones just carry video. to solve your problem just plugthe hdmi converter you recieved with your g card and spidif will work through that way. sorry but if you want it to work through a straight dvi cable then you will have to buy one that has the audio capability and they are not cheep.
