Post Nvidia driver 96.43.07 crash Xorg with GeForce2 MX Integrated Graphics

Hi:

It is in a Sony Vaio PCV-RX93M. There are no bios update available. GeForce2 MX Integrated Graphics. Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) updated daily.

Since the session began, any window is wrong and after a few seconds to do anything x server restarts. Attached images to better explain.

Tks,
Gio

Exclamation Re: Nvidia driver 96.43.07 crash Xorg with GeForce2 MX Integrated Graphics

Nvidia people:

I read everything I've found... Please give me an idea of what might be the problem.

Tks,
Gio

Default Re: Nvidia driver 96.43.07 crash Xorg with GeForce2 MX Integrated Graphics

I see in your bug report in xorg.conf:
Code:
Option "NvAGP" "0"
Why?
Try to change it in your bios or reconfigure your xorg:
Code:
sudo dexconf
Code:
sudo nvidia-xconfig
Try to reinstall this binary driver (NVIDIA Installer with option --uninstall and run installation once again) or install that driver in your Ubuntu repositories. And maybe it is a machanic damage...

Hi:

Because any other option (including the option not to put this: NvAGP 1, 2, 3) makes the system freezes when displaying the logo of Nvidia. In the bios there is no option for agp.

I reconfigured xorg with all the options that come to mind, but none works. I also reinstalled the driver as suggested, but neither works.

I do not think that is a hardware failure, because I also installed XP and everything works fine. I do not understand what happens: this is the driver that the nvidia website recommends...

Tks,
Gio
