looks like a great deal.
For watching sports and such, is 120hz a huge difference?

We have a 42-inch Toshiba from the previous generation of sets, and we've been very happy with it. Good picture quality, and very durable--my DVD/game shelf fell on the TV when I was cleaning one day. The only damage to the set was a scratch on the cabinet. The screen came through unscathed.

I'm not sure how newer Toshibas handle PC inputs but older models were quite tricky.
My set is the 42HL167, purchased in April 2007. It properly supports 1:1 pixel mapping over HDMI. I can't imagine that the set the OP wants would have had this feature removed. If you plan on using the VGA input, though, it appears that the set only does SXGA resolution. That's 1280x1024 or the widescreen variant thereof, IIRC.

Correct. I've not seen any TVs with a DVI input in a long time.
