Unhappy MythTV: No VC-1 with VDPAU on GTX 280?

The MythTV WiKi states:
"VC-1 support in NVIDIA's VDPAU implementation currently requires GeForce 9300 GS, GeForce 9200M GS, GeForce 9300M GS, or GeForce 9300M GS or 9400/9300 IGP. VC-1 is an alternative to H.264, and is a supported video codec for HD DVDs and Blu-ray Discs."

I can not believe it: no VC-1 support with a GTX 280? I have got several trailers / testfiles with HD res (1080p) and they are encoded with VC-1. Should I throw away 2 GTX 280 and buy 2 GF 9300 GS instead? I hope not

The GTX 280 indeed does not support VC-1.

This basically means, reencoding from VC-1 to H.264 / MPEG-4 before I can view these files. Well, that is another way to use the power of today's PCs. Otherwise I would not know what to do with my new i7-940 / X58 system I'm building ...
