Default Full HD on linux 9600 GT

Hello guys.
I've got older processor and I am not able to watch full HD movies on my computer (24 inch lcd). My processor does not manage it. I have old graphic card, too: 6600 GT. I would like to buy some new card, 9600 GT, because of VDPAU and mplayer integration which allows usage graphic card to decode video. But when downloading latest nVidia drivers, I can see only these cards are supported:
* GeForce GTX 295
* GeForce GTX 285
* Quadro FX 2700M
* GeForce 9400M G
* GeForce 9400M
* GeForce 9800 GT
* GeForce 8200M G
* GeForce Go 7700
* GeForce 9800M GTX
* GeForce 9800M GT
* GeForce 9800M GS
* GeForce 9500 GT
* GeForce 9700M GT
* GeForce 9650M GT
* GeForce 9500 GT
So I would like to ask, is 9600 GT out of game and I have to buy some card from this list? What are Your experiences with fullHD using pure grafic card? Or should I rather buy ATI for public release of api for its drivers? Thanks.
