My eVGA GTX 285 SSC arrives tomorrow.
Soon, i'll know if i can run it with my 600W Enermax. It's an old 12V dual rail model, with 18A per rail, and 36A max combined on the 12V rail, so, i dunno if it will be enough, but, i know that it can run my overclocked 8800GTX & Quad core.

I bought a Galaxy GTX285 on Friday and its squealing like mad especially when fps is higher than around 100fps. I think this is quite normal because my old 8800GTS 512mb (also Galaxy) also squealed although not as loud as GTX 285.
Anyway I am having some problems with 2 games. I use 181.22 drivers on fresh Windows XP SP3 install, E8400 all stock speed. In GTA4 I randomly get corruption on screen and usually but not always have to restart the computer. This also happened in Crysis Warhead. Sometimes I can play GTA4 for 2 hours with no problems and sometimes the lockup occurs after 5 or 10 minutes. I played TF2 for 2 hours with no problems. I checked temps and they are fine. They are actually lower than my old 8800GTS 512mb. My PSU is Corsair HX-620. I ran plenty of benchmarks in Crysis Warhead and everything was fine. Ran 3dmark 06 at least 10 times with no problems. In fact the lockup never occurs during benchmarking only at random times when I'm playing. Basically I'm not getting the stability that I had with 8800GTS 512mb. Do you guys know what is causing this? Is my card faulty or is it the drivers? I'll try 181.20 but if that doesn't work I'll return the card for a replacement. |

I just got my eVGA GTX 285 SSC
![]() I'm doing a lot of benchmarks. The most important benchmark for me: BloodRayne 2 HD 1920x1200 SSAA 2x max quality: 47fps (8800GTX) / 87fps (GTX285) ![]()

Yahoo it's here in my comp now and everything seems to work nicely with my Corsair HX 520W, so it powers my 8800GT512mb and GTX285 + an overclocked Q6600 @3.4ghz
![]() Ooh man I cant belive how great this card is, im blown away and Mirrors Edge runs like a dream and even better then a dream with PhysX dedicated to the 8800GT it's insane! BTW, congrats to you walterman and Njoy your nice shiny card ![]() |

![]() Pretty good card... much cooler than the 4870x2, and it doesn't make the horrible clicking noise (yet :P). It's slower than my ATI was 3dmark06 by a narrow margin, but it is significantly faster in the Crysis benchmarks that I ran at 1920x1200 with different levels of AA. |

oh my bad I though you got a single 285. that gtx 295 is a good choice... so what if it loses a benchmark i bet it's faster than the 4870x2 in games. I for one am going to sell my 4870x2 I got sick of their poor opengl drives it made ETQW run like crap.

The gaming performance has been noticeably better than the 4870x2, that much is clear.
