Got my GTX 285 yesterday, and apparantly, its a squeeler.
Checking with Gainward if I should RMA it, if there is even a point seing how a replacement would have the same type of components and capacitors, which I understand is the source of the noise. Doesnt do it all the time, comes and goes with the loading bar in some games, and sometimes in game aswell. Performance is awesome though and the fan is quiet enough. Playing WOW @ 1920x1080 with 2x2 (4x) Supersampling atm, good stuff.

Sure does.
for some reason this seems to give better performance then 16x with TSAA. (could be that it does almost as much work in certain alpha texture heavy areas, and MSAA ontop of that, perhaps) And obviously more concistant framerates.

I noticed that if you enable Supersampling Transparancy in Mirrors Edge then even my GTX 285 starts to choke out, it crawls.
I never use SSAA Transparancy but nice that you can do something to make those new beast of cards tap out ![]() |

GTX 285 SSC Goodness!
|
Just ordered an eVGA GeForce GTX 285 SSC Edition for $409 on the egg!
Came with Call of Duty World at War too. I usually never buy the pre-OC'ed cards because I can do it myself and save money, but I decided this time to be garunteed an OC and see how much further I can take it A little pricey but not bad for a top of the line video card! This should kick some ass in my system... and in a few months when I get a new mobo and CPU I will still be set! Can't wait to play with it next weekend! I just meet the minimum PSU requirements for 650W... but I have 54A on my 12V rail so I should be good.

And I only have a Corsair 520W HX and it seems that it actually can power my GTX285 and 8800GT 512Mb + Q6600@3.4Ghz so it must be a very very good PSU
![]() Heres hoping it will hold on as I guess it must stress it at near max and maybe over sometimes so who knows maybe I will sit here soon with a fried comp ![]() |

Dont know if your PSU is as good as Corsairs but mine 520W seems to do the trick, amazing I think so I just hope it will work. and yours is speced higher so of course you have to try it out, it will probably work out fine

I added a EVGA 285 to my main box to fold along side my 280s.

I bought a EVGA GTX 285 from a private party today. It is supposedly brand new and has never been installed in a computer. I should get it this Friday 02/06, I`m stoked.
