[BUG] Driver bug in 173.14.12 (ISR Handler lockup)
Distibution: Ubuntu (hardy)
Driver Version: 173.14.12
using Compiz Fusion
i'm using the nVidia driver (using envyNG) for months now (nearly) without problems.
Just after a long uptime every some minutes the screen is flickering, but i can live with that.
That flickering is: screen gets black for 1/5th second and then okay again.
This disappears after reboot or suspend/resume.
Today my system locked up for some 30-40 seconds (no VT switching, no mouse) then the mouse worked again, but still no VT switch or any screen refreshes. About every 10 seconds the screen flickered (like i described above) again.
The system was not reachable over wireless LAN. (the dmesg dump shows why)
I did a emergency sync since i had opened files
After about two or three minutes everything worked again (system switched to VT1 since i tried to switch during lockup), even the X-Server and all applications were behaving normally. The dmesg log shows that something has overwritten the microcode in my wlan chip. Until now its working fine - maybe the driver has reloaded that successfully - lets hope its still fine after a reboot
In that dmesg dump you can also see the BUG in the nvidia kernel module.
I'm posting that since i hope that a developer has a look into his sources and maybe is able to fix that lockup while in an ISR :-S
Even if my HW was faulty - this shouldn't ever happen
