Hey guys, it's been a while but I've finally decided to jump back in and get an nvidia powerhouse. Normally I build my own rig but I got a great deal on a Dell Studio XPS machine that I just couldn't pass up. I think w/ the right upgrades it makes a pretty cool sleeper mini tower that packs a punch. Anyway I just figured I would pop in, post a few pics of a BIG card in a tight space.
After some much needed wire management and a little care it actually has ok airflow and the temps look pretty good so far ![]() ![]() -tret

In case anyone is wondering what a Dell Studio XPS is..... It basically looks like Dell's Vostro 200 line... they are pretty compact

That's a very helpful sticker on the cpu heatsink.

Very cool, would you mind posting up some temperature readings at idle and under load? It doesnt look like theres much room for airflow underneath the card where most of the heat will be projected. I'd be very interested to see how these temperatures compare to other case setups. It looks like quite the sleeper, however

Yeah I'm pretty sure that sticker alone drops temps a few points.
So far I get about 48c-50c on the cpu at idle and around 52c on the GPU at idle After about 30 mins in game (Call of Duty World at War) I'm seeing temps peak at 61c on the CPU cores and 74c on the GPUs Before doing some serious wire management the temps were a little higher but everything is wide open and clear now so that is helping. I also plan to swap the stock Dell fans with some that perform better. I'll do a little more testing w/ some longer gaming sessions but so far everything is fast and rock solid. -tret

Alright so I decided to "Torture" this thing and see what I can expect "Worst Case". I loaded up a Prime95 Stress Test and ran rthdribl full screen at the same time.
The temps under full load seem to have leveled out at 72c 73c 69c 69c on the Core i7 Cores and 78c on the GTX295 I'm going to look into putting an after market cooler on the CPU and replacing the fans like I mentioned but even though the temps are up there they are nowhere near danger levels... To be honest I was expecting worse. tret
