Question Anyone tried Accelero XTREME GTX 280 cooler on GTX 260 55nm?

Thinking of getting a 3rd party VGA cooler for my BFG GTX 260 (216) 55nm card because it idles at 50C all the time without any overclock and load temps at 85C, my case is well ventilated as my CPU temps never got higher than 63C while prime95.
Has anyone tried Accelero XTREME GTX 280 cooler on a GTX 260 55nm card? I couldn't find anything on there website about 55nm cards.
Are there any other 3rd party VGA coolers supporting 55nm version of GTX 260?
Any input is appreciated!

I get the impression that the stock gpu cooler is a rather robust one. Your cpu temp I think is a tad bit high though well with in limits. This makes me think you could perhaps achieve better cooling by trying to lower the ambient temperature in your case.

If there's a lot of hot air in there an after market gpu cooler wont do much difference since you can never cool anything below the ambient level.

This is why I like the stock gpu cooler, it's designed to exhaust hot air in the back so it wont end up by the cpu and chipset.

My gtx is also OC version but from Evga, it idles at around 40c and highest temperatures I've seen thus far is 78c in furmark. With most games it usually goes up to 72c.

Do you have any fans in the front of your case?
I mounted a 120mm one at the front on the same level as the gpu to help supply with fresh air. It's not obstructed by any hard drives or anything

EciDemon do you have 55nm version GTX 260?

I do have 3 X 120mm fans in my case one in front of the case on the same level as gpu and the other two at the back beside CPU and chipset pushing air out. Before this card I had a GTX 260 192 version in my case idling at 43C and 75C load.
I agree with you on the after market coolers not exhausting hot air to the back of the case but inside.
I still think the 55nm GTX 260's heatsinks have been shrunk, the quality control and assembly of the card has been cut to the max by BFG so the possibility of improper heatsink placement is much higher then it was with 65nm versions.
Maybe I will try to reset the heatsink if I don't find any other alternatives.
Cheers!

I have the accelero xtreme gtx 280 installed on my 55nm evga gtx260 core216 there are instructions on the manufacturers website for two layouts of the 260

http://www.arctic-cooling.com/downlo...stallation.pdf

my idle temps are 37 deg C
load 46 deg C

the cooler itself is about an inch and a half longer I had to upgrade from a cooler master centurion 5 to a haf 922 there is loads of room now (almost three inches of clearance) and a little thicker but way more quiet at 100%

oh and thermalright makes a cooler for it as well Thermalright HR-03-GTX
