The Q9550 is a good choice, very nice CPU. Overclocks nicely.

Okay I will leave the 4870x2 then and will decide on either the GTX 285 or the GTX 260.

LOL through the middle of writing this I thought bugger it i'll just get the 285gtx. My card has broken and im running on a 64mb graphics card that is slow.

I will probably get a BFG GeForce GTX 285 OC 1024MB GDDR3 which will cost me £321 which is £2 less than the 4870x2

The 295 is an awesome card. I can't compare it to the 285 because I've never tried a 285, but it is noticeably better than a 4870x2.

Thank you. The ATI looks alot better on paper than the GTX 285 + 280 but everyone has told me to stay clear so I will.

Im trying to decide if the extra £60 is worth paying to get a GTX 295 over a GTX 285. Both cards are made by BFG.

You list Crysis. If you want to run that title with all set to very high @ 1920x you'll need GTX 260 SLi or better. So I'd give the nod to the 295.

I'm purchasing a card Monday. If by, then, I don't see any
295's, I'll have to settle for a 285. Over at the EVGA forum,
there are people that have been waiting in queue for nearly a
month. There doesn't seem to be any date that I can count on
from anywhere. I will consider another 295 vendor.

I don't recall being a fanboy. I liked my ATI card; the 295 is better. Also didn't like the driver situation.

Because getting a 295 is the right decision to make. You can't find one because it is just as bad ass a Video Card as having a 8800GTX in November of 2006 was! w00t! *memories

My 295 failed at first on FO3 for reasons I caused. Then it passed with flying colors on another game. Then another game... then another game... then another game... It was like a pattern. And I said, "well I wonder if the problems when trying FO3 was the game's setting and not the card". And it was.

Remember, the same settings on a 285 are not gurenteed to work on a 295. For example, (for Crysis) Vertical sinc on a 285? Yes. Vertical sinc on a 295? No.

Im paying £435 for a GTX 295 1792mb BFG card and I will get a Sandisk Cruzer 16Gb pen free (something I need anyway).


Its alot of money and has cleared me out. Lets hope its worth it
