Lightbulb GTS 250 is Best Discribe As

A GTS 250 is:

An "Overclocked 8800 GT with 55nm technology and a brand new board design that's an inch and a half shorter than the 9800 GTX+".

And a 9800 GTX+ is:

An "Overclocked 8800 GT with 55nm technology".

Read the following to understand what your getting if your considering a GTS 250.

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3523

Regardless of the naming system complexities, the 1 GB version is still a great deal for under $150 if your buying a PCI-E Video card for the first time! Or especially for a PC with a smaller case! (Get one with a lifetime warranty. )

Not exactly. An 8800GTX still has a wider bus than any of those technologies. A 9800GTX+ is an 8800GTS 512MB on 55nm.

Typo!

Sry I'll edit it now!

K, now it says 8800 GT and not 8800 GTX.

At least they rebranded a GOOD card.

This isn't anything new but if they can keep the price at $150 for the 1Gb and under $130 for the 512Mb its a pretty nice card for the money. Especially with the reduced power consumption.

One of the articles said it was possible to SLI it with a 9800GTX+ provided it has the same amount of memory.

This rebadging kind of seems ridiculous, but when you thikn of what they're doing it's not that bad. They're still dx10 compliant, they're still CUDA compliant, physx, they're just an older core (not the 2xx series).... the performance is in rnage of the projected price and if it does come out at $150 for one of these that's one hell of a deal. And of course there's nothing compelling there to upgrade from an 8800 ultra..... 8800 ultras were the beefed out version of that core and even the 9800 was a step down from it

well.. they're good but for around $300, a GTX 285 will stomp it into a mud hole. It's the only card I've given serious thought to for an upgrade but considering how wide a performance margin the 295 still has on it, i'm going to wait until at least Q3 before upgrading anything... and hopefully by then the i7's will be at a respectable price and I can either get a pair of 285's or a single 295.
