Default Problem installer NV Driver 173.14.12 on 2.6.28.7 kernel

Hello all,

I have a graphic card nVidia NV37GL [Quadro PCI-E Series] (take with lspci).
The nvidia-settings tool show me this information : Graphics Processor: Quadro NVS 280 PCI-E

I recently download the NVIDIA Driver Version 173.14.12 .
It build and work well with my 2.6.24-1-686 kernel (pre-compiled debian package kernel) BUT I can't use it with an 2.6.28.7 kernel build.

I just compiled the 2.6.28.7 kernel, it work well, but the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.12-pkg1.run installer failed with the following log:

Quote:

If you are using a Linux 2.6 kernel, please make sure
you have configured kernel sources matching your kernel
installed on your system. If you specified a separate
output directory using either the "KBUILD_OUTPUT" or
the "O" KBUILD parameter, make sure to specify this
directory with the SYSOUT environment variable or with
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.

Depending on where and how the kernel sources (or the
kernel headers) were installed, you may need to specify
their location with the SYSSRC environment variable or
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.
ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file
'/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions
on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux
driver download page at www.nvidia.com.
It seems like it doesn't find the kernel source directory (or anything like this... ? )
I run the installer with the command line :
Quote:
sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.12-pkg1.run -a --kernel-source-path=/usr/src/linux-2.6.28.7
(obviously run in root user, without any Xorg running)

The kernel is correctly locate in the /usr/src/linux-2.6.28.7 (I have too the goods symlinks in the /lib/module/2.6.28.7 "build" and "source" pointing to the kernel source directory)

Can anybody help me to install the NVIDIA driver version on this very new kind of kernel ??

Thanks for your contribution.

Please use the 173.14.17 legacy graphics driver release, instead (see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=128941).
