Lightbulb accelerate RealMedia File playback by vdpau?

i'm curious abou this.

ffmpeg 0.5 now supports native rv30/40 decoding, so is it possible to accelerate the playback by using vdpau?

VDPAU doesn't support RealMedia decode acceleration. You can certainly use VDPAU's to actually display the SW-decoded data on the screen though.

What does one gain by using VDPAU as output for sw-decoded video? The post-processing functions (deinterlacing, denoising)?

Yes; all the video processing. Also, timestamp-based presentation via the presentation queue. That said, I'm not sure if MPlayer takes advantage of those features right now. Other apps might.
