Default HDCP can suck it!

So, I have PowerDVD 8 and my monitor and graphics card are HDCP capable, yet I can not get the blu-ray movies to play because it says HDCP is not on.

Any ideas??

AnyDVD used to fix this, but now PowerDVD freezes when I put in a blu-ray movie.

God, I hate PowerDVD. What a sack of ****!

You need to run it at fullscreen, and without any window in front of it. (f.e.: HDCP will fail if you are using the task manager in front of the video window).

There is another solution: buy anydvd hd, and bye problems.

Also, if you are using a HDTV, some cards won't be able to use cropping & HDCP at the same time (like the old 8800GTX).

Then, if anydvd reports that the AACS has been removed, you should have no problems with the HDCP infection.

Maybe you have problems with the registered filters in your system.

I remember that after 6 months of use, my system was so messed, that it was refusing to play HD MPEG2-TS files. I had to reinstall the system again, in order to play those files. Sucks, but, there is no clear way to fix the registered filters.

Just was there were two updates this week to anydvd. Have you updated it? I haven't rented another blu ray since my first horrible experience, but if I do and keep having issues I am gonna get a stand alone player.

I ended up ripping the disk and using ffdshow to watch the movie. I am also upverting my sd collection to h.264, which my i7 does soooo fast.

update the sig

and yes, you should update anydvd atleast once a month, there are updates almost every week.

I rented maybe 100 Blu-rays from netflix, only issue i ever had was with Firefly Series, had to wait for slysoft to update anydvd. What ever i tried i couldn't get the disc to play on PC.

I just formatted and all is well again.

I wonder if it was Alcohol 120% and the SPTD driver that messed it up.

i mentioned it couple times, don't install anything that included SPTD until they fix this nasty bug.

it really screws around with optical drives, especially blu-ray drives that reach much higher transfer rate.

Really wouldn't suprise me if SPTD would be responsible for some people blaming starforce for killing their optical drives.
