Default no vdpau for me! Fedora10/9400GT/G86 - 180.37

Hi. Can anyone help me out with this. I'm stuck and stumped!

Can't get VDPAU to work, new install of Fedora10 and new chepo ebayed 9400GT with a G86core. Taking things in order; I cannot get the test program "vdpinfo" to give the green light.

VDPAU, also didn't work on the same rig with an older copy of ubuntu. I assumed it was because of my crappy admin practices, so took the opportunity to blow it all away and start again.

-> Just to be clear the video card is new but it does work - but no vdpau.

Code:
 ./vdpinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0

export VDPAU_TRACE=1
export VDPAU_NVIDIA_DEBUG=3

./vdpinfo

Done some searching but not many hits on this - I'm starting to think I have some 'funny' card that doesn't support vdpau. Pay ya money take ya chances. Atleast I get to play abit...

Thanks Ben

Well, I have a 8400M G (G86M) card in the laptop and I also get error 25 creating the VDPAU device, though my backtrace differs a lot.

The funny is that with an older driver (one of the first with VDPAU support) VDPAU worked.

thankyou for the reply. Looking at the mythtv wiki: I think are you indeed onto something as all three reports for 9400 cards are using driver 180.22.

Once I figure out how to compile a decent kernel and setup/fix and compile everything else, I report back. Been years since I played redhat/fedora and it's showing!

Hi DeiF - just been reading your other post "NVidia VDPAU doesn't work at all". I think we have the same or similar issue, the old '25'! Hopefully the bug you raised, get fixed soon.

I have tried 180.22 it made no difference. I then try the latest beta 185.13 - no difference.

I then try both the above with the latest kernel ( 2.6.28.7 ) and no difference.

Wow, my first kernel compile in years! I'm on a roll, so I compile up mythtv - far out that qt compile is a killer. I might not have VDPAU working, but I learn alot.
