Hi,
I use the gui "nvidia-settings" to change my display configuration between the internal laptop screen and the external monitor at work (I always set one to off and the other one to auto). Is there an automatic way of doing that from command line? so I don't have to open the GUI all the time and navigate to the options with the mouse. I've checked all the "nvidia-settings" parameters but could find anything... Thanks, |

You can try out disper, a software by someone of this forum, written by using NvCTRL.

Beware: I have to restart X for the nVidia driver to detect HDMI displays. Probing for devices returns zero results...
Is there a technical limit on probing DVI/HDMI devices? X server limit (1.5/1.6)? nVidia driver limit? |

Many thanks for the answers,
Unfortunately I've tried the "nvidia-settings -tq ProbeDisplays" or the "nvidia-settings -q AssociatedDisplays" methods and they are not useful for what I'm trying to do. If I execute both commands with both display configurations (one with the internal monitor on and the external off and the other way around) I get the same hexadecimal code for both :-? I'm going to try what NvFuchs suggested and try to use "disper". regards, |

Hi there, I'm sorry that disper's homepage is unreachable right now. Development is still going on at http://launchpad.net/disper/ . Binary and source downloads are available from the personal package archive (PPA) linked (as "external downloads") from the previously mentioned page (as .deb and .tar.gz).
