Default decode using VDPAU and output using Xv?

hi,

Is it possible to only use decoding function of VDPAU (on display :0) to decode a video, then copy the decoded video to system memory and
output the decoded video on the same display using other output extension, like Xv?

best regards,

j.zhang

It's certainly possible, although the copy to/from system memory will negatively affect performance.

Stephen and motd2k,
Thank you!

I am working on a software which decode baseline H.264 video stream using VDPAU and display it using Xv. I used VdpVideoSurfaceGetBitsYCbCr function to get yv12 image from the video surface, but the cpu usage was quit high, even higher than ffmpeg software decoder. If not to get the image from video surface (just decode the stream using VDPAU), the cpu usage is normal. And the wired thing is, if not to decode the first 3 or more P-frames of these streams, the cpu usage is normal. The output of pstack show that the cpu spend lot of time on function sched_yield() called by libvdpau_nvidia.so.180.41.

p.s. The VDPAU is great, but if it support decoding multiple streams parallelly, it will be even better!
