As a side note it seems even with a 400MB Buffer Pool I have video memory to spare, as AA settings up to 8xS supersampling @ 1600x1200 have no impact on framerates, and even when going up to 16xS, which renders at 3200x2400 on my system with 4x multisampling, I only see a 5fps hit and still stay in the stutter free 20-25fps range over Perth.

I was getting a solid 27fps with no micro stutters in both of these scenes:
Isn't quite working for my setup. The major difference between your setup and mine that I can see is that I run it at 1920x1200, other than that the setup is very similar.

Still seeing stutters? With a 285 vs my 260 going from 1600 to 1920 on horizontal resolution shouldn't make any difference, but it's interesting your results are different. Which version of windows do you run?

I do run with all AI and traffic turned off, which can make a difference, as can weather, of which I'm using the fastest theme, fair weather. Try using 2000/1700 max per cell and 300MB Buffer Pool. That should relieve the system quite a bit. Basically I would find some less aggressive settings which produce a nice stutter free framerate, and then tune to find your optimum levels from there. If you want to see my cfg file let me know, as there may be some other variables not conidered which is making the difference.

It took several nights of tweaking to finally nail it for my system, and it wasn't until the third night that I finally discovered my TBM was causing some of my headaches.

Last night after trying your tweaks i started experimenting with locking frames between 35 and 25 and for some reason setting it to 25 reduced if not almost removed the stutters and the whole experience doesn't feel any slower than when I had it set to 30 or 35.
I will try your suggestions tonight and report back.

The 3000/2000 max per cell value works well in areas with good performance, though in heavy hitting areas its not uncommon to dip to 20, so for those areas I have been using 2200/1700 with the slider at extreme.

Some Aerosoft Manhattan X. Runs horrible on my system even with 1.2patch. then again i cranked up the settings and didn't run at reccomended which would probably help. 10fps ha ha. I did try with water at low 2x and it was better. mix of dx9 and dx10 pics.

Here's a new config I've ben testing. Without a 400MB BF I do get stutters at perth but since I don't fly there I'm tuning for the places I do fly.

So far the best overall experience I have found is to use the FPS Limiter tool along with the cfg tweaks. This gives the ability to limit fps while staying with an unlimited setting in game, which means you don't have to take the framerate hit associated with the in-game framerate limiter.

When I use the limiter it runs a few fps higher than what I set it to, so I set it to 25 which tops out at about 27-28 in game. With the new config I'm able to fly around Redcliff averaging 25-27fps with occasional dip to 23fps, but no lower, which is impressive to me.

Using the limiter makes it even smoother and removes even more stutters, especially if you are getting a framerate above the limit you use, and even if you drop below that it's just as smooth or smoother than it would be without the limiter.

It seems the ratio you use with the max per cell tweak can affect framerate. For example 2200/1600 gave me 3fps less than 2200/1700. I've now got it set back to the default 3/2 ratio which works well for me. As you can see from the images, even with buildings at 1600 I get 100% buidling coverage when using extremely dense.

Another tweak I've been playing with is the Fiber Frame Fraction Time. .44 seems to be the best setting based on my testing around Redcliff. Also with BF down to 300MB I'm able to run my TBM much higher, which seem to help with texture loading.

[DISPLAY]
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120

[MAIN]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.44

[SCENRY]
SmallPartRejectRadius=4

[TERRAIN]
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2400
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1600

[BUFFERPOOLS]
PoolSize=300000000

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=15

To get framerates in the 25-27 range with a minimum of 23 using extremely dense I have all AI and traffic turned off, clouds at high/60mi, and aircraft shaows off. I bet the above config would work well on Core 2 systems using very dense.

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120 ? I think that's not for my system
But great shots!

I'm a little bit out of practice.

I think TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2200 and TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1700
works perfectly - thanks Eagle!

Yep, that was the settings I used the whole time I had my Q6600 system. Nice shots!

Where did you get the silver craft? It looks pretty cool.

Thanks but i have to apologize because i still use only 1024 as max texture resolution, so i guess the water doesn't look like it's supposed to look

I think it's from Simviation. The VC is a lttle bit outdated.. but with a little work, it's a nice and interesting aircraft.

Did you test with "SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT="?
