Has anyone here tried Boxee?

Boxee is pretty darn good for what it is. I've tried the beta version for Linux and Mac OS X and it's pretty solid so far. I think the best thing about it is the plugins to stream content over the net versus trying out multiple scripts on XBMC.

Boxee should have a Windows Beta releasing soon and when they do, I'll be eyeing it very closely for my HTPC.

right now it doesn't have any scheduling built it, but i have designed it to be fully compatible with windows scheduler, (I personally have it setup under windows scheduler).

anyway, i have made the code available under GPLv2 License (Opensource) so feel free to dig in.

I would really appropriate any feedback or problem reports.

Hitcher from XBMC forums, took the AEON and added all mods that few other users made and put all-in-one.

Simply amazing skin

Nice! I'll have to check this out when I get home today. The lack of multithreaded support has held me back from using xbmc as it won't play my high-def content smoothly. This should do the trick though!

just a heads up if you have the opengl version of XBMC, good idea would be to remove xbmc configuration files, because it is slightly different between opengl and dx version.

A couple of dumb questions, because I just downloaded this today, and really don't understand it...a help file would have been nice. Is it possible to play a movie from a DVD in it? Is it possible to play streaming audio in it? From a very quick perusal of it, it appears that it can only play files stored on the HD.

It will play DVDs. It will stream anything, you just need to share it, or enter the URL for the source. It's a very powerful media centre. You'd be best checking the official forums, rather than asking here.

While I had my Xbox it was my main media centre. I just shared the folders on my PC and I could watch anything on my TV. Now I have Windows 7 MCE hooked up directly to my TV also working as a PVR.
