A friend of mine wants to delve in Linux for his aging laptop for sh:ts and giggles....I dun think he know what he is getting himself in for...or does he?
Is there a distro which is pretty much easy to install / configure etc for a laptop? Or can anyone give me a recommendation for a distro? I haven't personally delved into Linux since red hat 5? or something like that...my friend has never tried linux full stop

Ubuntu, Mint Linux, Fedora, SuSE, none of them are all that hard. I'd personally aim him towards Fedora, but it'd probably be easiest for him to start with Mint.

You are welcome and the reason I suggested vector is because you said aging laptop which I took for meaning low spec'ed. Mint is a great distro and Clem has made some very nice improvements over ubuntu that they should love.

I've had good luck with Xubuntu on an old laptop -- runs reasonably fast and reliably in 64MB, as long as you don't try to run 3D stuff.
