Fallout 3 yes, very much. Oblivion no because the story in that game was extremely weak, finished it, but wow...going into gate after gate just doing the same dam thing over and over was very weak in that game.

The storys better and the game feels smoother/more fun than Oblivion. There are distinctive zones (not the same tree/foliage every inch of the world) and leveling actually matters.

I reinstalled the other day and patched to 1.7... What a difference! The stutter is all but completely gone, the framerate has improved, the fighting is actually a bit challenging, there are more tweaking options, and all over its a better experience.

Also, get the Gothic3 gametool for 1.7 and you can edit the ini much more easily.

I re-installed and even though my frame was mostly over 80 the freezing was still bad and the gameplay though improved is still poor. You know what they say about polishing turds. I can only hope that G4 will be good.

I have been looking for something to satisfy my cravings for Diablo 3. I didn't like the first one and never cared for the second, but for about $20 you can have three games. It may also satisfy my RPG needs for now. I guess I will see if it was worth it.

The story is decent, I wouldn't say its good enough of a reason to make it a must play but if they fixed all the issues then it might be good enough for a try.

The story is fine but the voice acting is bad. Gothic 3's greatest strength is the world design and the graphics still look great by today's standards.

I am another one who is itching for a large open world RPG. I have been playing Drakensang which is a different style of game. I did not like Oblivion at the time but I even considering giving it another go with the Obscuro plus other graphics mods. I even installed Gothic 2 over the weekend but it would not run on Vista 64.

Come on Rockstar please make me a RPG.
