Very true! SuperSampling is awesome, but it uses a ton of memory and bandwidth, an area where the GTX 295 is really lacking.

I haven't really seen how playable my games are with SSAA. There seems to be a lot of headroom in everything except Crysis, so I should probably start playing around with those modes. xD

First impressions are

Crysis looks awesome with DX10 at 1920x1200

Every game I've thrown at it it just chews out :P

The only weird thing I've noticed is coil whine during the Crysis intro videos... No whining during actual gameplay on any game I've tried thankfully.

But the coil whine during the intro videos is very, very audible and it nearly gave me a heart-attack...

I've googled about this and it seems its quite common. But why does this happen with Crysis intro videos only???

Dude that had me going as well at first ... (with 2 285's ) . For a moment i thought that my psu's were going to explode or something. But then i figured, the 285 does not consume more power then the 8800 GTX right ?

And about the AA in Crysis... I must be blind or something , but at 2056 res i really find it hard to notice a difference . I mean i see it, but i'll take the 100 fps over the 50 fps myself .

However, there is absolutely NO difference in frame rates between 8x and 16 x AA . Is this normal ?

Back to a 9600GT. Havent noticed a difference in games @ 1920x1200 (burnout paradise, rainbow six vegas 2).

Burnout looks amazing when you crank the SSAA and the MSAA in nhancer. Definitely a performance hit though.

meh, jaggies dont bother me that much so even a smattering of AA does it for me.


I got rid of GTX 295 because it was useless tbh. It could not even run SSAO without severe stuttering.

It was absolute schite, one of my worst purchases ever. Dont be a moralising faggot and suggest that I didnt figure out drivers. I did all the drivers etc, managed the settings.

I got rid of it because:


1: It shat out tons of heat. The damn thing was a furnace
2: It was SOOOOOO damn noisy. My pc is nigh silent and the GTX 295 was incredibly noisy, especially when it revved up occasionally.
3: It did not impress me with its speed. Whilst games ran "well", it did not justify its price tag for the annoyance it caused me. This 9600GT whilst not "Teh most pwrful in teh world" puffs along nicely doing what I need it to do. I havent tried crysis on it, and to be quite honest for the £330 I saved, im not missing it .

If I was so inclined I would buy an xbox 360 and nintendo wii along with some games. Hell I could buy a decent enough laptop.

Funnily enough, ive donated the money to charity. Some little coloured kid will have something to eat instead of my fps.
