Default Display Port on Quadro FX 3700M (Linux)

Hi.

I recently purchased a Dell M6400 Covet which sports a Quadro FX 3700M Nvidia graphics card. I installed Kubuntu 64bit (8.10 - Intrepid) and enabled the restricted drivers which installed version 177.xxx. This appeared to work very well after fudging the Dpi to 96x96.

I have since purchased a Display Port to HDMI converter from Dell in the hope of playing around with the mythtv frontend to my HD ready TV. The only problem is that the nvidia-settings utility doesnt appear to detect the Display Port output.

After looking at the list of supported cards and "newly supported cards" for the 180.xx driver, I dont think the Quadro FX 3700M is fully supported yet?

http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_18897.html

Should the Display port work, or are there known issues around using a Display Port -to- HDMI converter? Unfortunately I dont have a device with a Display Port input to test.

Any words of wisdom from someone "in the know" would be much appreciated.

TIA

Hi,

Similar to the above post...
I have a Dell Precision M6400 laptop running Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid).
The graphics card is an NVidia Quadro FX 3700M with 1 GB RAM.
According to nvidia-settings, the NVidia driver version is 177.82.
The laptop screen looks good at resolution 1920x1200.

The laptop has one VGA and one dual-mode DisplayPort (DP) output.
I connected an external monitor, a Dell 24" UltraSharp 2408FPW,
to both the VGA and the DP outputs from the laptop.
The external monitor does not recognize the DP input, though it
does the VGA input (which has limited resolution to 1152x864).

How do I get X windows/the monitor to recognize the DP input?
I know this is a Linux issue, not hardware, because the same
system dual-boots Windows Vista where the DP connection works fine.

Thanks,
Charlie

Well, the "Release Highlights" for 180.35 say:

Added support for the following GPUs:
GeForce GT 120
GeForce G100
Quadro FX 3700M

However that release has some other serious problems. So you might want to wait for the next release

quick note to say that upgrading to ubuntu jaunty RC,
which ships with 180.44 drivers, fixes the problem.
