Display Less Than Screen On Samsung LN52A850

I've recently hooked up a 52" LCD TV to my X server using the NVidia driver. X Windows detects and uses the TV's 1920x1080 screen resolution, but portions of the screen (all four edges) are falling off of the viewport.

Is there a way to configure the driver so that the display falls completely within the TV screen? Is there a link, perhaps, to where this might have previously been discussed? (without knowing the correct terms to use, it's hard to Google for answers)

You can play tricks with making up modelines that are smaller than 1080i and and using "centered" GPU scaling, but you might not have to.

What if you just set your TV to its "Just Scan" mode (I don't know about the LN52A850, but this is possible on the LN52A650)?

Well, first, do you think that it can be fixed with the correct Modeline entry? If so, I don't mind spending the time to learn how to fine-tune modelines. I just wish there was a nice tool we could use to find the correct modeline.

As for the "Just Scan" mode, I'm not sure what it is, but this model is likely to have it. What exactly is the "Just Scan" mode and where can it be found in the 650's menu?

Probably under the settings for aspect ratio.

Found it! Tools -> Picture Size -> Just Scan.
