Just noticed that there was a driver update for the wireless receiver on windows update, have no idea what it does though, doesn't seem to have much documentation.

Iwas hoping this would be the update that give me the option to turn off the damn controller!

It's stupid how they don't have this feature.

that is what keyboard is for

what they really need is propper calibration and dead zone settings.

What about for an HTPC?

A tiny wireless keyboard normally costs $150. Being able to type with a Windows compatible gamepad while sitting on the couch would be awesome.

It seems like it would have been one of the first things to be Windows compatible considering how many people are comfortable text messaging with their thumbs these days.

Would would REALLY be nice would be a DAMN DRIVER WITH:

FULL RANGE analogue
DEAD ZONE settings

IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ****ING ASK?!?

Full Range - Try playing a 2-3 year old game that doesn't support the 360 pad explicitly. A great example is the old Prince of Persia series. You can run up, down, left, and right, but you can only walk on the diagonals because of the range of the sticks. It's a damn driver issue because XBCD (when running 32bit Windows) is fine with it.

Dead Zone - Again, older non-supported games. NFS:MW is a culprit, even though its semi-supported. The car veers to the left or the right because the dead zone is so small.

BASTARDS

I couldn't even find a suggestion contact e-mail to say some of these things. At least with AMD/Nvidia drivers, they have an e-mail, even if it frequently does nothing.

reason why they discontinued the receiver, because they started bundling it with the gamepad

Exactly and one thing for sure, have the dude not heard of GFW, if they discontiued the receiver=gamepad it's same as lay down GFW as the standard gamepad is one thing MS did right and ppl love.no more pain in the ass configuring a gampad just game on and be happy as it should!

The STANDARD GAMEPAD is on off the things MS have talked about mostly and of course the high quality and widescreen support that is a must.
I say GFW is one hell of a good iniative but not fixing proper drivers is just retarded. Maybe they will fix it in GFW 3.0 who should be out this summer I think
