When switching VT with the 185.18.08 driver the X Server crashes. (get back to the login screen but I stay at the same VT).
Any older driver works fine. This also means that I can no longer supsend to ram (just end up at the login screen) Bug report is attached. |

When I first installed 185.18.08 I had compiz disabled and did not get X-crashes when switching VT.
(The terminal stays blank as it has allways done on my 9600m GS. killing X and reposting the videocard with vbtracetool -p would restore it. But I didn't do this now) As soon as I turned compiz on I get an X-crash when I switch VT (CTRL-SHIFT-F1). (terminal stays black, like above) When I witch back to X (SHIFT-F7) X crashes or restarts. I end up on the login screen, the same as reported earlier in this thread. I now also sometimes get black squares in stead of letters when I type in a gnome-terminal with compiz enabled. (I do not get these with compiz disabled) See screenshot, right-bottom I attached bugreports without compiz and after compiz enabled (=after a VT switch X-crash) system: ACER aspire 6930G card: 9600m GS 512 MB DDR2 driver: 185.18.08 kernel: 2.6.29.1 x86_64 OS: ubuntu hardy 64bit videobios: 62.94.3c.00.17 nvidia-bug-report_nocompiz_noxcrash.log.gz nvidia-bug-report-compiz-xcrash.log.gz Last edited by nldudok1; 05-05-09 at 05:35 PM. Just tested here with 9800GTX+, 185.18.08, XFree86 4.70 and 2.6.29.2 kernel, and all appears to work normally - I can get to any VT, between them, and back cleanly, at least for the few minutes I tested.

me too.
openSUSE 11.1 x86_64 with quadro fx 1600 in dell precision m6300. and detecting and applying second monitor on the fly with "nvidia-settings" tool also crashes X when configuring second monitor and clicking on "Apply". this works, when compiz-fusion is NOT running. |
