Working fine here so far. Not seeing much in the way of improvement over Vista with sp2 though.

EDITED REEDIT: It sees my 80Gb deskstar no problem. Funny thing is, when browsing for drivers from within the install, it shows that hdd in the browser.

Is this a new drive or an old one with data?

You might need to add it again to your OS so it is recognized. I don't have the info off the top of my head but google for HDD not visible in Vista, or Adding HDD in Vista. It should be the same fix.

note, you may lose all data on the drive when it is mounted correctly.

That's what's so weird Saz, the OS does see it, it's only the installer that won't recognize it. When I tried the SATA drivers it gave the "no drivers found" message, but it sees my other 2 no problem.

With it up and running now, and even browsing for drivers during install, it saw it perfectly fine.

Yeah, it is a nice OS so far for sure, better transfer speeds, but same memory usage etc..looks like vista with a refined desktop.

Not a huge deal. Got 2 free V ultimates from MS, both running just sweet. I'll keep this for a bit and see what happens.

Vista Second Edition is ok, but since it is RC1, not much will change from now till final.

What is your BIOS set to? IDE? AHCI? RAID? on my x58 the installer doesn't detect the hdds when bios is set to AHCI, have to install Intel drivers.

But on my laptop with mobile Intel 945 (need to check) Bios is set to AHCI, and it detects everything fine.

Hey nekro, I tried IDE and compatibility on an Asus X38 board. I didn't try AHCI as my daily use OS is on this as well, and was installed IDE.

Thing is, the bios sees it, the OS sees it now that the OS is on a third hdd, and even the driver browser during install could see it, but the installer itself couldn't. So it shows up everywhere but there.

I may just leave as is, this deskstar is pretty quick for an older drive, and use the 7200.11 for games and storage.
