Default very pleasantly surprised, high quality

Ok, yesterday my server started making A LOT LOT LOT of noise. The fan on AMD OEM heatsink started making noise.

So i replaced with Noctua NH-U12P

From performance test, Noctua NH-U12P fall behind Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, but from build quaility and overall finish it is simply amazing.

Everything about the Noctua NH-U12P build quality was simply amazing, every single component seemed like it had to pass million quality control points.

The mounting kit and the mounting procedure was very simple.

Very nice. What was the pricetag? Comparable to Thermalright's stuff?

got it for 60 (including a fan).

NH-U12P does fall behind Ultra-120 Extreme in cooling performance, but everything else about it simply excellent.

Not bad, on par with Thermalright. I am sure when you say it "falls behind" it is not by much. The design seems very similar.

i personally haven't compared them, talking about few reviews i seen, diffrence seems to be minimal.

Ultra-120 cools my i7, and NH-U12P cools one of my Phenon 9550.

Ultra-120 mounting kit is pain in the ass compared to how easy NH-U12P is to mount.

and i'm being serious, every single part of NH-U12P is high quality.

I too just got a new heatsink/fan. I was using the Arctic Cooler 7 Pro just because at the time I didn't want to spend the money and it was only $20.

I just got the OCZ Vendetta 2 installed and it dropped all my temps considerably. It's also completely quiet. I can not even hear the stock fan at 1000rpm. My core temp of my E6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz went from 60c idle to 52c.

The OCZ Vendetta 2 is going for $49 at Microcenter and if you're overclocking your cpu it ranks just as good if not a little better then the ultra-120.

Sounds hot still

I think my e6400 used to hit those temps @3.7ghz (tons of Vcore)
